Advanced Prototype

Our customer required prototype injection molded parts without the time and expense associtated with standard tooling and production.  Our solution was to design and implement a filament extrusion line that extruded a unique resin not normally available in these media.  The filament was then used to 3D print 100% dense dimensional accurat prototypes thus eliminating the expense of injection mold tooling and injection molding time.  This approach resulted in a 60% reduction in time and 50% reduction in expense over conventional injection molding prototype sampling.

Tool Fabrication
Constellation Machining was able reverse engineer the existing part and generate a high precision, high production level injection mold in order to supply parts for the project.  Constellation utilized 3D scanning and CMM point clouds to capture the data set and product the tooling with proper draft angles and shrinkage factors.

Case Study - US Army component no longer supported by the OEM

Sheet Metal Work
Constellation machining was able to generate tooling based on older vector drawings to make metal forming tooling and all compoenets utilized in a radio transmitter cover.  This included conductive form in place gasket utilizing an in house CNC gaket application machine.  Forming, painting and assembly as well as laser part mark and FIP gasket were all performed in house.
